GenGreen

December 2024 - December 2026

About the GenGreen Project

The GenGreen project empowers local associations to adapt and implement educational activities that address climate change, while supporting youth-led initiatives across local communities.

By developing educational programmes, encouraging intercultural exchanges, and actively involving young people in meaningful actions across Austria, Hungary, Greece, and Denmark, GenGreen equips them with the tools to drive tangible, lasting change.

Ultimately, GenGreen seeks to improve youth engagement in climate action, raise awareness of the connection between youth, local associations, and climate advocacy, and enhance the capacity of the organisations involved.

Project Objectives

GenGreen aims to empower youth in climate change advocacy by promoting:

  • Active citizenship

  • Leadership development

  • Environmental awareness

The project connects environmental consciousness with essential skills to amplify youth voices, while fostering collaboration between:

  • Youth organisations

  • Climate change experts

  • Grassroots and sports associations

Strategic Objectives

  • Education and capacity building for young people and grassroots associations

  • Co-creation and implementation of sustainable solutions in youth and sports associations

  • Raising awareness of the climate crisis and creating space for dialogue among associations and decision-makers

Target Groups

The GenGreen project primarily supports:

  • Young People (15-29): Engaged in designing and implementing environmentally sustainable activities in their communities, supported by grassroots associations.

  • Local Associations and Their Staff: Strengthening their knowledge and capacity through peer learning and international collaboration with partners in Denmark, Greece, Hungary, and Austria.
