Operations Manager

About Us: Budapest Association for International Sports (BAIS) is a growing NGO promoting participation in sports and physical activity, and sport-based non-formal education. We believe sport is the ultimate platform to foster mutual understanding, to create friendships and to bring people together regardless of their backgrounds. BAIS organises frequent accessible leisure sport events and runs Education Through Sport (ETS) based youth development activities. We engage in international youth and sport policy cooperation, mostly funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. 

Job Description: Our Budapest-based NGO is looking to fill a newly created role for an experienced and motivated individual to manage our project-related operations. It’s a flexible, part-time role to support the implementation of international sport-themed projects, to coordinate internal administration and our social media communication.

Responsibilities (what you would be doing):

  • Supporting the implementation of international projects (mainly Erasmus+ Sport and Youth actions)

  • Providing general administrative support to the organisation

  • Arranging logistics and travel arrangements for meetings, tracking invoices 

  • Dealing with incoming emails and queries, handling social media requests

  • Supporting social media communication

  • Working in collaboration with the BAIS board, sometimes to tight deadlines

Requirements (must haves): 

  • Residence in Budapest

  • Professional working proficiency in English 

  • Conversational proficiency in Hungarian 

  • Experience in the field of international project management (preferably Erasmus+)

  • Bachelor’s/Undergraduate degree (preferably Business, International Relations or other relevant studies)

  • Experience on social media platforms (managing pages, groups, communities, events)

  • A positive approach to communication and collaboration

  • Independent problem solver, self-sufficient, proactive

Advantages (nice to have): 

  • Previous experience in NGOs, sport or the nonprofit sector 

  • Basic knowledge of the Hungarian nonprofit law and taxation system

  • Self-entrepreneur, small taxpayer status

  • Competent with creative tools (Canva, Adobe Photography, others)

  • Personal interest in sports and empathy with our mission

  • Additional language knowledge/work or study experience abroad
