If your answers are YES, you are in the right place! Whether you are a natural organizer, a creative writer, or a social media enthusiast - there is a place for you in our team.

There are many ways to get involved with BAIS and become an active part of our community. Here's a simple 3-step process to help you gradually deepen your involvement:

Step 1: Attend Our Events

The best way to get started is by joining our events! Most of them are organized by our amazing volunteers and members. We offer a wide variety of activities, from sports like volleyball, basketball, padel, jiu-jitsu, and yoga, to events focused on mental health, sustainability, and more.

No matter your interests, we are confident you will find something you enjoy. By attending our events, you will get to know our community, experience how we operate, and see if you would like to get more involved. If it feels like a good fit, you can take the next step and become a volunteer!

How to get involved:

Check out our events on our Facebook page (and register, if needed)!

  • What do you expect from a volunteer?
You should be based in Budapest or in Hungary and plan to stay for at least a year so you can actively participate in our community. Join our team building events and be an active member of our community. Organize 1 event/year. Be proactive! We will not assign you tasks - instead, we encourage you to take initiative. Come to us with your ideas, and we will support you in making them happen!
  • Is this a paid position?
No. This is a volunteer (unpaid) position - but it comes with plenty of non-monetary benefits! Check the top of the page to see everything you can learn and gain by volunteering.
  • Can I join as a member without volunteering first?
No. The first step towards the BAIS membership is becoming a volunteer! After 6 months of active volunteering, you can apply to become a member if you plan on staying in Budapest long term.
  • How do I organize a sports event, step by step?
Before organizing your first event: join a few BAIS events to get to know our community and see how our events are structured. Take initiative - think about the type of event you would like to organize, and consider a possible time and date. Contact our Sports Event Coordinator, who will walk you through the next steps and provide all the support you need. You will need to write a short event description for Facebook - we will take care of posting and promoting your event on our social media platforms. Show up at the event, help with setup (if needed) and most importantly, have fun!
  • Can I organize events that are not related to sports?
Absolutely! We are generally open to all kinds of ideas. Just let us know what type of event you would like to organize, and we will be happy to discuss the possibilities with you. Over the years, we have hosted events on topics like mental health, sustainability, and more. For example, in the past year, we have organized a Climate Fresk workshop, a visit to the FKF Recycling Plant in Budapest, discussions and webinars on the connection between sports and mental health, a CV writing session, and so on!
