Game Changers
Sharing with you the incredible journey of our project "Game Changers: Empowering Youth through Sports and Citizenship," an initiative funded by Erasmus+. This project brought together 36 enthusiastic youth workers from Hungary, Slovakia, Turkey, Spain, Greece, France, Poland, Lithuania, and Portugal. Our mission was to enhance their capacity to use sports as a tool for fostering active citizenship and community engagement.
Project Highlights:
The project was divided into two key activities: the Advanced Planning Visit (APV) and the Training Course.
The project achieved significant results and had a notable impact on both participants and the wider community. The project enhanced the capacity of 36 youth workers from nine different countries to use sports as a tool for promoting active citizenship. Through the Training Course, participants gained new skills, knowledge, and practical tools to design and implement sports-based civic engagement activities.
Key results included the development of nine unique sports-based games aimed at promoting active citizenship, which were successfully applied in local schools and communities. Additionally, an "Active Citizenship through Sports Toolkit" was created, providing a valuable resource for youth workers and educators across Europe.
The project also fostered a network of like-minded youth workers committed to using sports for civic engagement, enhancing cross-cultural understanding and collaboration among participants from diverse backgrounds. The practical and theoretical knowledge gained by participants had a ripple effect, benefiting their respective organisations and local communities.
Activities and Games Designed:
Throughout the training course, participants engaged in various activities, learning non-formal education methodologies and developing new sports-based civic engagement strategies. Here are some of the innovative games designed during the project, each with its unique objective:

ALleyball: Focuses on communication, time management, decision making, and teamwork.

Touchline Tactics!: Enhances communication, trust, body coordination, and teamwork.

North and South: Teaches understanding, teamwork, and communication while supporting SDGs 3 and 10.

Basketball Fair Play: Promotes fair play and respect through knowledge-based gameplay.

Paperball: Introduces empathy, teamwork, and the importance of physical activity.

Prison Break: Highlights the importance of teamwork and cooperation.

In Frisbee We Trust: Encourages trust, teamwork, and collaboration while addressing SDGs 3, 10, 11, and 12.

Procatch the Flag: Raises awareness of diversity and cultural differences through a fun and competitive game.

TRUSTBALL: Develops trust among team members through guided gameplay with blindfolds.
Impact and Future Plans:
The "Game Changers" project not only empowered the youth workers with new skills and knowledge but also created a ripple effect in their respective communities. The participants are now equipped to design and implement sports-based activities that foster active citizenship, inclusion, and community engagement.
