LeaderSHE - Developing of women leaders

January 2022 – December 2023

Inspiration for this project lies in the differing education and upbringing of girls, separating them from boys since their earliest days. Young athletes, especially women, often lack informal and non-formal education due to gender inequality. We want to empower their soft skills and build a team-leader spirit because they will not use it only in their sports career but in their social and later in their sport-oriented-career life too. This project will be coordinated by the Handball club from Belgrade and it will be supported by its partners from Denmark, Hungary, North Macedonia and one more sport club from Serbia.

The main objectives of the project are:

  • capacity-building of partner organisations and providing them with new tools for approaching gender-related topics

  • promoting inclusion of women in sports activities and higher positions in sports

  • providing participants with teamwork and leadership skills

  • promoting the quality of coaching and staff for women

  • fighting against discrimination of women in sports and promoting gender quality

  • raising awareness about obstacles that women face in sports and training participants to recognize and form a critical thinking

The project will last 18 months and will have the seven following activities:

  1. Kick-off meeting (for partners, planning and team building),

  2. Training course (for participants, building teamwork skills, with a special focus on women as team leaders)

  3. Middle project meeting (for partners, evaluation of previous and organizing the next activity)

  4. Zoom meeting (for partners, overview of the survey results & preparing the material)

  5. Focus group activity with plenary discussion (for participants, raising awareness for struggles that women face in sport, and forming critical thinking with activistic reaction)

  6. Final evaluation and dissemination plan meeting

  7. Dissemination activity

The project result will be created at the end of the activities with the youth. Participants will be given a task to create a video, leaflet and report.
